Patna, October 17, 2025: Important news for more than 1 crore pensioners of Bihar! If you are availing government pension, it is mandatory to submit your life certificate by November 30, 2025. If you don’t do that, your pension can be stopped. The central and state governments have made several online and offline options available for the convenience of pensioners to make the process easier.
Why is a life certificate important?
Every year, pensioners are required to provide proof of their survival so that their pension remains uninterrupted. According to the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, Government of India, the fourth nationwide Digital Life Certificate Campaign will be launched from 1st November to 30th November 2025 across the country. There are about 1.13 crore social security pensioners in Bihar, including retired state and central government employees and family pensioners. Of these, about 3.5 lakh are retired employees of the Bihar government and their families.
How to make a life certificate?
There are many easy ways to submit life certificate for pensioners. You can make the payment either online or offline. Let’s find out how:
1) Doorstep Service of the Department of Posts
India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) allows you to get a life certificate from home. For that:
- Visit the Postinfo app or website and request for doorstep service.
- The postman will come to your house and prepare your certificate through the biometric process.
- You are required to mention your bank name, account number, account type and Aadhaar number.
2) Online Process
If you want to create a life certificate online, follow these steps:
- Download the app on your smartphone.
- Enter your Aadhaar number, PPO number, and bank account details in the app.
- Verify your identity using the OTP received on the Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
- After this, submit the certificate through the app or Jeevan Pramaan portal.
3) Online process
If you are not comfortable with the online process, you can submit it offline by going to the nearest CSC centre, bank branch, post office, or any government office. For that:
- You need to fill PAN number, Aadhaar number and bank account details.
- After biometric verification, your certificate will be submitted.
Timely action needed
Pensioners are advised not to wait for the last date and submit their life certificate as soon as possible. If you do not complete the process on time, your pension can be stopped, which can lead to financial trouble.
Government’s appeal
The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has appealed to all pensioners to be a part of this campaign and keep their pension safe. The Bihar government is also running an awareness campaign in this direction so that more and more people can submit their certificates on time.
